ABOUT

Hope you've enjoyed checking out my page, The Tar Heel Outdoorsman.  I'm Robert Daniel.

I love all things outdoors---hiking, camping, sailing, fishing, hunting---but my two greatest outdoors passions are fly-fishing, and duck hunting.  I am by no means an expert angler, nor am I an expert water-fowler, but I really get a kick out of writing about my time outdoors.  Out in the swamp, the woods, the lake,  the river, or the salt marsh.

Growing up in both Wilson and Raleigh, NC, I'd consider myself a Southerner, a North Carolinian, but above all, an outdoorsman.  Ever since I can remember, I've been drawn to the beauty, the peacefulness, the refuge, the unknown, that is the outdoors.

I'm a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, finishing up with a History major and minors in Creative Writing and Spanish in the Professions.  Currently I'm back at UNC, studying law.

I attended Sweetwater Guide School during the summer of 2013, and have guided at Smith Fork Ranch in Crawford Colorado in the 2014 season and additionally at  A Bar A Ranch in Encampment, Wyoming in the 2016 season.

Thanks for checking it out!
